Saint Mansuetus (d. around 375) was the first bishop of Toul, sent in the 4th century to evangelize the region. He worked to convert the pagan populations of Lorraine and to structure the local Church. He founded several places of worship and laid the foundations of the diocese of Toul. Tradition attributes several miracles to him, including the resurrection of a child. After his death, his tomb became an important place of pilgrimage. He is considered the protector of the city of Toul and his diocese. His cult has been maintained in Lorraine throughout the centuries.
