St. Anthony of Padua

Saint Anthony of Padua (1195-1231), born in Lisbon as Fernando Martins, was a Franciscan priest and great preacher. Initially an Augustinian canon, he joined the Franciscans after discovering the martyrdom of the first missionary brothers. He distinguished himself by his powerful sermons and his knowledge of the Scriptures, becoming a key figure in evangelization in Italy and France. Known for his miracles, he was invoked to find lost objects. He died at the age of 36, was canonized in 1232, a year after his death, and declared a Doctor of the Church in 1946. His feast day is celebrated on June 13.
