Abraham, a major figure for believers, is considered the founder of monotheism by Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Originally from Ur in the Chaldees, he is traditionally depicted as an elderly man with a white beard. In iconography, that is, painting, sculpture, illumination, and mosaics, certain episodes of his life are emphasized according to the doctrinal importance of each of these episodes in the three monotheistic religions.
