Saint-Marcel Church

This stained glass window depicts a scene from the Dominican tradition in which Saint Dominic receives the rosary from the Virgin Mary.

This polychrome stained glass window in the neo-Gothic style depicts a religious scene divided into three main registers. In the center, the Virgin Mary in a red dress and green cloak holds a rosary and carries the Child Jesus on her left arm. The Child, dressed in white, is depicted standing in a blessing attitude. Kneeling before them, a man in a black and white monastic habit, identifiable as a member of the Dominican order, surely Saint Dominic, receives the rosary from the Virgin's hand. At his feet, a dog holding a lit candle in its mouth is visible, adding a particular symbolic dimension to the scene. At the bottom of the window, the inscription "1873, Dupont priest Neufchâteau" attests to the date of creation and the provenance of the work.
