Middle Ages: The commune was part of the barony of Lafauche, an important lordship of the region.
Feudal period: The fief of Montlebert, a fortified house, was located on the territory of Vesaignes-sous-Lafauche. The lords of Montlebert owed homage to the Count of Lafauche, and several of them were captains in the regiments of the Duke of Lorraine.
French Revolution (1789-1799): Like many French communes, Vesaignes-sous-Lafauche was affected by the political and social upheavals of this period.
20th century: The commune experienced a demographic evolution, with a population of 250 inhabitants in 1793, reaching a peak of 358 in 1876, then gradually decreasing to reach 128 inhabitants in 2021.
