Tramont-Saint-André, formerly known as Tramont-la-Jus or Trasmons ad fontem in Latin, is mentioned for the first time in April 1255. On this date, Roger de Marcey, bishop of Toul, attests that Milon, knight of Battigny, sold to the chapter of the cathedral of Toul his possessions in Tramont-la-Jus.
In 1362, documents mention the right of mortmain to which the inhabitants of the village were subject. On March 20, 1445, Antoine de Lorraine, Count of Vaudémont, freed a certain Jean Poiré de Tramont, as well as his wife, from all sizes and servitudes, in exchange for a pint of wax weighing three pounds, payable to the county revenue. On August 13, 1870, during the Franco-Prussian War, the staff of Marshal Mac-Mahon settled in Tramont-Lassus, while his brigade was positioned in Tramont-Émy.
