Sommerécourt
has
a
history
dating
back
to
the
Gallo-Roman
era.
The
village
is
crossed
by
the
old
Roman
road
linking
Langres
to
Trier.
In
1806,
two
1st
century
statues
representing
the
god
Cernunnos
and
his
consort
were
discovered
there;
they
are
now
kept
at
the
Epinal
museum.
The
Gallo-Roman
bridge,
located
in
the
communes
of
Sommerécourt
and
Outremécourt,
allowed
people
to
cross
the
Mouzon.
This
five-arched
bridge,
also
called
"Pont-cinq-Parts",
has
been
listed
as
a
historical
monument
since
1932.
In
the
19th
century,
the
castle
of
Sommerécourt
belonged
to
Jean
Antoine
Huot
de
Goncourt,
grandfather
of
the
Goncourt
brothers,
famous
French
writers.
