Sommerécourt

Commune of Haute-Marne (52150) with 80 inhabitants.

Sommerécourt has a history dating back to the Gallo-Roman era. The village is crossed by the old Roman road linking Langres to Trier. In 1806, two 1st century statues representing the god Cernunnos and his consort were discovered there; they are now kept at the Epinal museum.
The Gallo-Roman bridge, located in the communes of Sommerécourt and Outremécourt, allowed people to cross the Mouzon. This five-arched bridge, also called "Pont-cinq-Parts", has been listed as a historical monument since 1932.
In the 19th century, the castle of Sommerécourt belonged to Jean Antoine Huot de Goncourt, grandfather of the Goncourt brothers, famous French writers.
