Vosges municipality (88170) with 170 inhabitants
The village of Sandaucourt is mentioned from the 12th century under various names. The castle of Sandaucourt, built in the 16th century by the Beauvau family, underwent several modifications in the 18th century, including the addition of a flight of steps, large windows and two pavilions. During the Thirty Years' War, in 1636, the castle was spared thanks to the allegiance of its owners to the King of France. In 1931, it was transformed into a cheese dairy, then into a workers' home in 1969. Restored in the 1970s, the castle was classified as a historical monument in 1980 and opened to visitors during heritage days.
