commune

has
a
history
dating
back
to
the
12th
century.
The
first
mention
of
the
village
appears
around
1147
under
the
name
of
"alodium
Respe".
Under
the
Ancien
Régime,
Repel
was
part
of
the
bailiwick
of
Mirecourt.
At
the
beginning
of
the
18th
century,
the
seigneury
of
Repel
belonged
to
the
Marquis
of
Lenoncourt,
the
Count
of
Haussonville
and
the
Commander
of
Xugney.
From
1790
to
the
year
IX,
Repel
was
part
of
the
canton
of
Rouvres-en-Xaintois.
In
1997,
the
commune
came
under
the
canton
of
Mirecourt
and
the
district
of
Neufchâteau.
The
communal
archives
of
Repel,
measuring
4.25
linear
metres,
do
not
contain
any
documents
prior
to
1790,
according
to
an
1867
survey.
