Saint-Martin
Church
in
Pompierre
is
most
famous

its
12th-century
Romanesque
portal,
one
of
the
finest
examples
of
Romanesque
sculpture
in
Lorraine.
This
portal,
preserved
during
the
church's
reconstruction
in
the
19th
century,
features
detailed
scenes
such
as
the
Adoration
of
the
Magi,
the
Massacre
of
the
Innocents,
and
Jesus'
entry
into
Jerusalem,
surrounded
by
geometric
and
floral
motifs
inspired
by
Burgundian
sculpture.
Listed
as
a
historic
monument
in
1908,
this
portal
is
protected
by
a
wooden
lean-to
to
preserve
the
sculptures.
