Pompierre was marked by several significant events:
577: According to Gregory of Tours, a historic meeting took place in Pompierre between Gontran, King of Burgundy, and his nephew Childebert II, King of Austrasia. This event is commemorated by the construction of a chapel.
12th century: The initial chapel was replaced by a church, whose Romanesque portal is decorated with sculptures recalling the meeting of the two kings.
1741: Jean-Baptiste de Lavaulx, Lord of Pompierre, had a castle built that still stands today.
1858: The Romanesque church, considered dilapidated, was demolished. However, the 12th century portal was carefully preserved and integrated into the new church built at that time.
