Nancy

Commune of Meurthe-et-Moselle (54000) of 100,000 inhabitants, prefecture of the department.
Nancy has a rich and prestigious history, having been the capital of the Duchy of Lorraine for several centuries.
The city developed under the influence of the Dukes of Lorraine, who left a remarkable architectural and cultural legacy there.
In the 18th century, under the reign of Duke Stanislas Leszczynski, Nancy experienced a true golden age, with the creation of sumptuous squares such as Place Stanislas, a symbol of Enlightenment urban planning.
Annexed to France in 1766, after the death of Stanislas, the city continued to prosper and modernize, notably with the rise of Art Nouveau at the end of the 19th century, driven by the École de Nancy, an innovative artistic movement that profoundly marked the architecture and decorative arts of the city.
