Darney-aux-Chênes is an old village whose history dates back to the Middle Ages, marked by its attachment to the Duchy of Lorraine before integrating the Kingdom of France in the 18th century.
The commune takes its name from the surrounding oak forests, symbols of the rurality and natural wealth of the region.
