Saint-Pierre Church

This stained glass window represents the multiplication of the loaves by Jesus.

This stained-glass window faithfully illustrates the Gospel episode of the multiplication of the loaves, particularly according to the Gospel of John 6:1-15. It is one of Jesus' best-known miracles, recounted in all four Gospels. The scene takes place outdoors, in a hilly setting painted in mauve and green. Jesus, in the center, wearing a golden halo and dressed in red and blue, extends his right hand in a gesture of blessing. He is addressing a man kneeling before him, dressed in ochre and purple garments, who is holding a basket filled with five small loaves. At his feet, two fish rest on the ground, surely an allusion to the Gospel according to Saint John, "Five barley loaves and two fish." Around Jesus, a crowd of disciples, probably apostles, and women in the background, wait. According to the Gospels, Jesus fed five thousand men, not including women and children, with only five loaves and two fish.
