Saint Andrew

Saint Andrew, brother of Saint Peter, was born in Bethsaida in Galilee.
A fisherman by trade, he was initially a disciple of John the Baptist before following Jesus Christ, becoming one of his twelve apostles.
After Pentecost, he evangelized Greece, Asia Minor and the regions around the Black Sea.
According to tradition, he suffered martyrdom in Patras (Greece), crucified on an "X"-shaped cross, since called "Saint Andrew's cross".
Considered the first apostle called by Jesus, he is particularly venerated in Scotland, of which he is the patron saint.
His liturgical feast is celebrated on November 30.
