Moses is a major prophet of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Born in Egypt, he was saved from the waters of the Nile and raised in the court of the Pharaoh. After killing an Egyptian who was mistreating a Hebrew, he went into exile in the desert of Midian. God appeared to him in a burning bush and ordered him to free the Hebrews from slavery. He confronted Pharaoh with ten plagues before leading his people out of Egypt during the Exodus. He received the Ten Commandments on Mount Sinai and led the Hebrews in the desert for 40 years. Moses died before entering the Promised Land, leaving the leadership to Joshua.
