Saint Mary Magdalene

Saint Mary Magdalene is a disciple of Jesus, often identified as a repentant sinner. She is mentioned in the Gospels as a woman healed of seven demons by Jesus. She became one of his most faithful followers and was present at the crucifixion. She is best known for being the first to see the resurrected Jesus and to announce this news to the apostles. Some traditions associate her with the sister of Martha and Lazarus, or with the woman who anointed Jesus' feet. After the resurrection, a medieval legend says that she ended her life in Provence, living as a hermit in the Sainte-Baume cave. She is the patron saint of penitents and hairdressers. Her cult is very present in Lorraine and France.
