Saint-Rémi Church

This stained glass window shows the “Giving of the Rosary to Saint Dominic” and the “Education of the Virgin Mary by Saint Anne and Saint Joachim”.

This 19th century neo-Gothic stained glass window shows two scenes. In the left lancet is the "Giving of the Rosary to Saint Dominic". We see the Virgin Mary holding the Child Jesus on her knees, giving the Rosary to Saint Dominic kneeling in front of her. Saint Dominic is identifiable by his characteristic Dominican habit (white and black) as well as the dog holding a torch, an iconographic symbol traditionally associated with the Dominican order. In the right lancet, we recognize the "Education of the Virgin Mary by Saint Anne and Saint Joachim". The child Mary, in the center, is recognizable by the Marian halo already present. She reads and receives instruction from the Scriptures. Saint Anne, seated, wears a red and blue outfit. Saint Joachim, standing in the background, in a green garment, observes this scene of education with attention and benevolence.
