Jesus

Jesus Christ was born in Bethlehem around 4 BC to Mary and Joseph. Baptized by John the Baptist, he began his public ministry at age 30, teaching love, compassion and forgiveness. He performed many miracles, healed the sick, raised the dead and gathered twelve disciples, the apostles. Accused of blasphemy by the Jewish authorities and condemned by the Roman governor Pontius Pilate, he was crucified in Jerusalem. According to the Gospels, Jesus resurrected three days after his death, appeared to his disciples and then ascended to heaven. His life, teaching, death and resurrection are at the origin of Christianity.
