This stained glass window illustrates important episodes from the life of Christ in three main openings.
In three main lancets, this stained glass window illustrates essential episodes from the life of Christ. In the left lancet, we see a scene of dialogue between two characters. On the left, a standing man, wearing an ornate cap, is discussing with a seated figure who probably represents Jesus. His role seems to be situated in a symbolic context, where he could be a priest of the Temple, a scribe or a Jewish notable. Jesus, dressed in red and blue, traditional colours symbolising respectively the Passion and the divinity, stands in a humble attitude. In the central lancet, the scene represents the Baptism of Christ by John the Baptist. In the centre, Jesus, kneeling in the Jordan, receives water on his head, poured by John the Baptist, dressed in a yellow tunic. An angel, on the left, holds a cloth to dry Christ after the baptism. A white dove, symbolizing the Holy Spirit, towers over the scene, radiant, testifying to the divine presence and recalling the Father’s words: “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased” (Matthew 3:17). Finally, the lancet on the right depicts the Virgin Mary, surrounded by two women, in a Marian representation linked to compassion. Mary, dressed in blue, symbolizes purity and fidelity. She is accompanied by Mary Magdalene, identifiable by her leaning posture and long hair, and another pious woman who could be Salome or an anonymous woman represented to reinforce the theme of feminine piety. In three main lancets, this stained glass window illustrates essential episodes from the life of Christ.
