Saint Amélie (or Amalia) is a saint venerated in Lorraine and Belgium. Born in the 8th century into a noble family, she refused marriage with Charlemagne to devote herself to God. She entered the monastery of Münsterbilzen (present-day Belgium), where she led a life of prayer and charity. Known for her piety and wisdom, she encouraged monastic life and Christian devotion. Tradition attributes several miracles to her. She died in peace and was quickly venerated as a saint. She is the patron saint of artisans and young girls. Her cult spread to Lorraine and neighboring regions.
