This stained glass window represents two important figures of Christianity: Saint Nicholas and Saint Maurice.
This stained glass window from the Saint-Maurice church in Rouvres-la-Chétive consists of two lancets surmounted by a trilobed tympanum decorated with a central rosette and decorative elements with plant motifs. In the two lancets, the scenes depicted show figures from the Church and a martyr, symbolizing spiritual guidance and courage in faith respectively. In the left lancet, we discover a central figure wearing a mitre, holding an episcopal crozier, a clear sign of his status as bishop. He blesses with his right hand three children kneeling in a basin, referring to baptism or miraculous protection. This saint is Saint Nicholas, Bishop of Myra, protector of children. In the right lancet, we see a standing figure, wearing a helmet, dressed in a red cape and holding a martyr's palm and a sword, traditional symbols of martyrdom and spiritual strength. This is most likely Saint Maurice, the patron saint of the church. Maurice was a Roman soldier and leader of the Theban Legion, martyred for his fidelity to the Christian faith. This stained glass window from the Saint-Maurice church in Rouvres-la-Chétive consists of two lancets surmounted by a trilobed tympanum decorated with a central rosette and decorative elements with plant motifs.
