Saint-Remy Church

This stained glass window is an ex voto representing Saint-Dominique receiving the rosary from the hand of the baby Jesus. Nijon was preserved from the invasion in 1870.

This stained glass window depicts the reception of the rosary by Saint Dominic in a richly decorated frame. The main scene depicts a sacred interaction between a monk in Dominican habit (probably Saint Dominic) and the Virgin Mary, who holds the Christ Child on her lap. These figures are surrounded by a richly detailed architectural and floral frame. On the left, Saint Dominic, in a black and white habit, kneels in prayer. He extends his hands toward the Christ Child, as if to receive the rosary. On the right, the Virgin Mary is seated. She wears a golden crown, a symbol of her heavenly royalty, and is dressed in a blue mantle, a traditional color associated with her purity. The Christ Child, standing on his mother's lap, also crowned, hands a rosary to Saint Dominic, a symbol of prayer and spiritual connection with heaven. In the lower part, one can read the inscription "Nijon, preserved from invasion, 1870", marking the gratitude of the inhabitants for divine protection during the Franco-Prussian War. The upper frame contains the Latin inscription "Ex Voto", indicating that this stained glass window is an offering of thanks.
