Nijon

Commune of Haute-Marne (52150) of 70 inhabitants.
The commune of Nijon dates back to the Middle Ages, when it was structured around local lordships. During the French Revolution of 1789, it became an independent administrative entity. In the 19th century, Nijon developed with the arrival of infrastructure and agricultural modernization. The two world wars had a strong impact on the commune, which erected war memorials in tribute to those who had disappeared. After 1945, the rural exodus reduced its population, although Nijon retained its rural character.
