This modern stained glass window depicts Saint Therese of the Child Jesus, also known as Therese of Lisieux.
This modern stained glass window depicts Saint Therese of the Child Jesus, also known as Therese of Lisieux. It was made in 1954 by the Benoit Frères workshops in Nancy. The window shows Saint Therese standing in a contemplative attitude. She is dressed in the Carmelite habit, with a black veil and a white cape. She holds in her arms a golden cross surrounded by roses, a central symbol of her spirituality. The roses, also present at her feet, evoke her famous metaphor: “I will make a shower of roses fall on the earth.” The color palette is both sober and bright, with brown, gold and green tones, punctuated by touches of pink for the flowers. The shapes are geometric, typical of stained glass windows from the mid-20th century, where modernity is integrated with traditional religious themes.
