Bernard Counot Archaeological Museum

The Bernard Counot Archaeological Museum in Liffol-le-Grand offers a fascinating insight into local history, from prehistory to the Middle Ages, with a particular focus on the Gallo-Roman period.
Created to showcase regional discoveries, the museum houses an impressive collection of remains: fragments of Gallo-Roman villas, a sanctuary dedicated to water and sun cults, as well as a rare smoking room dating from the Roman era.
A mosaic from the Flavian period and various everyday objects allow visitors to imagine the lives of the region’s ancient inhabitants.
Housed in the former forester’s house, the museum offers an immersive and authentic experience, offering visitors a privileged look at the practices, beliefs and lifestyles of past civilisations.
