In the center, a standing man, surrounded by a Christ-like halo, is dressed in a red tunic and a blue cloak. This noble figure with a gentle face is none other than Jesus Christ. He hands the keys to a kneeling man, dressed in an ochre tunic and a purple cloak, who also has a halo. This man is Saint Peter, the first of the apostles. The scene takes place in an architectural setting with columns with Corinthian capitals, semicircular arches, and, in the background, crenellated walls. This may be the city of Jerusalem or, more symbolically, the Church itself under construction. Around the two main figures stand three other bearded men.
