Saint-Pierre Church

This stained glass window bears witness to the calling of the first disciples by Jesus, Gospel according to Matthew 4:18-22. Gift of the C.F. and J.N.S. families.

This semicircular stained-glass window consists of a large glasswork framed by a floral and plant border typical of the 19th-century Gothic Revival style. The main scene occupies the upper part of the glasswork. It depicts Christ, haloed and dressed in red and blue, standing. He extends his hand in a gesture of appeal. Around him, several men listen to him or gaze intently at him. Below, two men, one crouching, the other leaning toward him, are holding fishing nets. We are on the shores of a lake, and everything indicates that this scene represents the calling of the first disciples, fishermen like Peter, Andrew, James, and John. This scene is recounted in the Gospels, particularly Matthew 4:18-22. The stained-glass window is a gift from the C.F & J.N.S. family.
