Commune of the Vosges (88170) with 1700 inhabitants.

Châtenois is a commune with a rich and ancient past, dating back to the medieval period when it was a stronghold with a castle, from which it takes its name.
Formerly attached to the Duchy of Lorraine, Châtenois played a strategic role in the region, in particular for the defense of this territory.
It was marked by the conflicts and alliances of Lorraine, before its integration into the kingdom of France in the 18th century.
Today, Châtenois preserves vestiges of its history, such as old streets and heritage buildings, which recall its defensive past and its historical importance.
