This stained glass window illustrates the conversion of Saul of Tarsus, future apostle Paul.
This stained-glass window depicts the conversion of Saul of Tarsus, the future apostle Paul. The scene is set in a semicircular arch. At the bottom, the title “Conversion of Saint Paul” immediately guides our reading and refers to the Acts of the Apostles, chapter 9, verses 1-9. In the center of the scene, a man in Roman robes, recognizable by his purple cloak and halo, is teetering, his arms raised in a posture of imbalance, almost blindness. This is Saint Paul, or rather Saul, as he is called at the time. Two soldiers surround him and attempt to support him. At the top of the window, in a luminous cloud, the risen Christ appears, dressed in white, his hand raised. Divine rays emanate from him and are directed toward Saul.
