On the left, a priest in white and black liturgical vestments; on the right, a pope in red and gold pontifical vestments, he wears a pontifical tiara and a cope embroidered with gold and holds a pastoral staff with a triple cross, this is probably Pope Pius 9, known for having proclaimed the dogma of the Immaculate Conception in 1854. Two heraldic coats of arms overlook the lancets. This part is surmounted by a quatrefoil containing an inscription "Mary was conceived without sin" framed by floral and geometric motifs.
