La composition est structurée selon une hiérarchie qui relie la Terre au Ciel, mettant en scène des personnages bibliques, des saints et des symboles de la Trinité, tout en intégrant des références régionales, telles que la croix de Lorraine. Pour le registre inférieur. À gauche, Saint Augustin et sa mère Sainte Monique sont représentés dans une scène intime.
