Saint-Pierre - Saint-Paul Church

This stained glass window, dedicated to the memory of Father Phelisse, represents the Holy Family and the teaching of Mary by her parents.

This stained-glass window with two lancets is a work from the Janin workshop in Nancy. It is dedicated to the memory of Father Phelisse. The frame is decorated with plant and floral motifs, including vine leaves and gilded scrolls typical of Janin's work. In each lancet, we see a central oval scene, inserted into an architectural structure with slender lines and decorated with motifs on a white background highlighted in gold. On the left, we see the Holy Family. Jesus, dressed in a white tunic, stands between his parents. Mary, seated, holds a spindle. Joseph, near a lily, looks on. We are in his workshop. On the right, the infant Virgin Mary receives religious instruction from her parents. Saint Anne, seated, teaches Mary by showing her a sacred text. Saint Joachim, leaning on his staff, observes the scene. The infant Mary is kneeling. An upper quatrefoil depicts white lilies on a red background.
