Notre-Dame Church

These three high Gothic windows show Mary as the common thread between the fall and redemption.

We are faced with three tall Gothic stained-glass windows located in the church choir. They form a coherent narrative ensemble, structured around three fundamental moments in the history of salvation, in dialogue with one another. On the left, the expulsion from paradise (the fall of man - Genesis 3) recalls the origin of evil. In the center, the Assumption of the Virgin Mary announces heavenly hope. On the right, the crucifixion of Christ shows redemption through the cross. Mary, in the center, connects the fall and redemption, the Old and New Testaments, earth and heaven. The lancets are surmounted by trefoils adorned with musical angels, doves, symbols of the Holy Spirit, and neo-Gothic ornamental motifs. The ensemble is very homogeneous.
