This stained glass window, signed by Victor Höner Nancy, illustrates the giving of the rosary by the Virgin Mary to Saint Dominic.
This stained-glass window depicts the Virgin Mary giving the rosary to Saint Dominic. It is semicircular and richly ornamented, with a rich frame of floral and foliage motifs. The overall decoration is set against a white grisaille background, surrounded by a red and green border adorned with flowers and foliage, typical of the 19th-century glassmaking style. The figurative scene is placed in the center, in an oval medallion, set in a gilded and decorative neo-Baroque frame. To the left, the Virgin Mary, wearing a halo, seated, with the Infant Jesus on her lap, sits on the clouds. She is dressed in pink and blue. The Infant Jesus also has a halo. To the right, kneeling, Saint Dominic de Guzmán, founder of the Order of Preachers, is dressed in the black and white habit of a Dominican monk. He has a halo and receives a rosary from Mary. At his feet are a book, a sphere, and a dog carrying a lit torch. The background features a rural landscape. This stained-glass window depicts the Virgin Mary giving the rosary to Saint Dominic.
