This stained-glass window combines the Adoration of the Magi (Matthew 2:1-12) and the Massacre of the Innocents (Matthew 2:16-18).
This stained-glass window combines two episodes from the Gospel according to Matthew: the Adoration of the Magi and the Massacre of the Innocents. In the left window, Mary, in a blue cloak, presents the infant Jesus to three richly dressed men, kneeling or bowing. Beside them, we see gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. The scene takes place under a simple roof, probably that of the stable, with the star that guided these Magi in the sky. Behind Mary, Joseph watches. To the right, a change of tone. A Roman soldier, sword in hand, prepares to strike the child whom a mother tries to protect by hiding him against her. Other children lie at her feet.
