This stained glass window depicts a scene from the Holy Family. Donated by the commune of Longchamp.
The stained glass window depicts a scene of the Holy Family, a theme closely linked to Christian devotion and often illustrated in religious art. The scene seems to evoke the last moments of Saint Joseph, surrounded by Jesus and Mary. Christ, dressed in red with a cruciferous halo (marked with the three branches of the cross), is depicted administering a blessing or a final comfort to Joseph, his earthly father. Mary, in blue, at the head of the bed and in prayer, is identifiable thanks to her simple halo and the stylized fleur-de-lis, symbol of her purity and perpetual virginity. At the bottom of the bed, a carpenter's tool recalls the profession of Joseph, the carpenter of Nazareth.
