This stained glass window illustrates the apparition of the Virgin Mary to Sainte-Bernadette-Soubirous as attested by the inscription.
This Neo-Gothic stained-glass window unfolds into a single vertical lancet, topped with a rich openwork architectural decoration. On the right side of the window, in a natural niche carved into the rock, stands the Virgin Mary, her hands clasped, dressed entirely in white, with a long veil and a blue sash. Around her head, a golden halo emphasizes her holiness. A rosary hangs from her arm. Facing her, kneeling, a young girl dressed as a Pyrenean shepherdess looks up: it is Bernadette. The grassy ground is dotted with pink flowers and realistic details such as wooden clogs placed near a cloth. In the background, we can make out the Pyrenean mountains, typical of Lourdes, as well as the reddish-brown rocks of the grotto.
