This stained glass window depicts the Immaculate Conception, a representation of the Virgin Mary, according to the dogma proclaimed in 1854 by Pope Pius IX. In the center, in a richly decorated frame, the Virgin Mary is dressed in red and blue, floating on a cloud, with a half-moon under her feet and a serpent that she crushes, referring to the iconography of the Apocalypse (Rev 12:1) and the prophecy of Genesis (Gen 3:15). Around her halo, we can read "O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us". Mary is surrounded by on the left, from top to bottom, St. Michael, a nun, St. Catherine, St. Philomena, and on the right, St. Raphael, St. Scholastica, St. Restitue and finally surely Pope Pius IX.
