Autigny, fountain

The Fontaine Amont located in a grove 2.5 km northeast of Autigny la Tour. The pre-existing spring was developed with a vaulted water mass (sump) in cut stone (port-date of 1826), backed by a retaining wall.
In 1825, the architect Langlois drew up a plan that completed the spring with a gayoir.
The work was carried out in 1826, according to the date on the keystone. The rubble and sand came from the Autigny quarry, and the cut stone from Rebeuville (sources A.D.88 2019/9).
It was renovated a second time in the early 2000s.
It was very useful for the inhabitants for a very long time when they worked in the fields nearby. Indeed, the bushy trees present were a shelter against the summer heat, the clear and abundant water quenched their thirst.
It was also appreciated for watering the herds despite its isolation
