Outrancourt, bell
The bell was made in 1870 by the famous Urville bell foundry, which disappeared at the end of the 19th century. It is 60 cm high, has a diameter of 65 cm and weighs 150 kg.
The bell that adorned the roof of the old town hall and school of Outrancourt has dominated the city since the year it was made.
Since its installation in 1870, the bell has marked the events of this community of about fifty souls.
Although there is no document indicating whether the mobilization of 1870 was triggered, it is certain that it was sad in 1914, joyful in 1918, sad again in 1939 and joyful in 1945. In the meantime, it was content to invite generations of students to its small school, which closed in 1964.
In 1977, it was removed from the roof of the dilapidated building.
It was decided that it would remain in the inventory of municipal heritage and would be rebuilt on the territory of the commune (attached to Contrexéville since January 1, 1965).
