Commune of Vosges (88)
Sionne has a history dating back to the 11th century. In 1097, the village is mentioned in the foundation title of the Saint-Jacques de Neufchâteau priory.
On May 20, 1408, Philippe Chevillart de Mirecourt declared to Pierre de Bourlémont, lord of Domrémy, the cens and rents that he owned in Sionne.
The lordship of Sionne belonged until the French Revolution to the priory of Saint-Jacques-du-Mont.
At the beginning of the 19th century, the commune had several forges, including that of Sionne, operated by Bourgeois et Cie. These forges used iron ore from Liffol-le-Grand, Poissons and Joinville, as well as charcoal and limestone from the Neufchâteau district.
